About me (my illness - cancer)

Hi! My name is Petra Grujic. I'm 19 years old and I am the only child in the family. As you know I like turtles and have 2 (Shell and Stumpy). I like to watch TV, going out, talking to friends, studying. I live with my mother and father and of course, my 2 turtles :-). I love computers, so I decided to make this page. I hope that you are satisfied with this site. I hope you will come back and visit this site again.

2 years ago I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma Cancer (in February 2001). It is a type of bone cancer and it was located in my left knee. There was a tumor eating away at the bone. Because of this, I have to go through 6 cycles of chemotherapy, surgery, then 7 cycles of chemotherapy. First I have 6 cycles of chemotherapy. Than, I have operation where they have removed the tumor. Than I have another 7 cycles of chemotherapy. Between cycles I was given the Neupogen - expensive shots and I was always given 2-3 blood transfusions and too. I was treated with chemotherapy. After each course I feel extremely bad, as chemotherapy emaciates my young organism very much. After 7 cycles of chemotherapy I have another operation . When it was finally over (it last about 10 months) I was so happy. I have of course physicall training and so.

But after 10 months it was . In October 2002 it has gone to my lungs. After that I already have 2 operations on my lungs and 9 cycles of chemotherapy. I am going today on my 10.

I was finish with my chemotherapys and everything in february 2003. and 2 montsh later, just one day ago I found out that it has return to my lungs. I have 3 methastaticum (sorry on my spelling - hope you will understand it). Again. Again, I must go on 2 operations, again on chemoterapys. I am sick of it. I am only 19. :-(

The treating will again lat about 10 months.

I am not going to school for about 2 and half years now. :-(

I am from Croatia. You know how poor is that country. My father works for small amount of money and my mother doesn't work. Sorry on my mistakes on the site, my English isn't so good.

I am saddened to say that on November 16, 2003 Pepito passed away.  She went in to hospital in September, for another operation and never came home again. This site is decicated to her and her love of turtles. She will be always with us.
